The analysis ofthe content is not concerned with an understanding of content for its own sake. Media giveshighly selective representation of the world that have some capacity to influence or shape thefuture. Textual analysis tends to be used as a way of drawing attention to the particular ways inwhich media content selects and constructs the world and ways selective representations mightinfluence the future.
