Martin Luther was a German professor who played a major role in the 16th-century reformation movement.

Luther rejected several teaching and practices of the Roman Catholic Church. He strongly disputed the claim that freedom from god's punishment for sin could be purchased with money. His theory against the pope and the church made him an outlaw.
